About us

Mission

In existence since 1985, the mission of the Réseau Alternatif et Communautaire des ORganismes (RACOR) in mental health on the Island of Montreal is to bring together, support, equip and represent community and alternative mental health organizations on the Island of Montreal.

We are dedicated to ensuring recognition of the unique competence of the alternative community in mental health, as well as the innovative and indispensable nature of the services offered to people living with mental health problems.

An Essential Network
Over 100 organizations supported and represented
40 years of RACOR in mental health

Every person has a story, and every story has a face...

RACOR in mental health also aims to raise awareness, inform and promote a better understanding of mental health among government bodies and the general public, and to lift the veil on the perverse effects of taboos and stigmatization on people suffering from psychological distress.

Our services

RACOR is a network of community organizations working in the field of mental health in the Greater Montreal area. United by their community involvement and the importance they attach to mental health issues, the members of our group offer a wide variety of support and accompaniment activities. Their actions are based on diversified approaches and respond to multiple needs.

The work team

Marc Lopez

General Management
After training in sociology and teaching, our General Manager gained considerable experience in the field. At l'Arrimage, his role as employment counsellor enabled him to accompany people living with mental health issues for 10 years. He then headed up Suivi communautaire Le Fil for 4 years, before joining the RACOR team in 2023. His dearest wish for our network: to contribute to building a community of solidarity.

Elizabeth Tran

Community Liaison Coordinator
With several years' experience in our field (Tel-Aide,Tel-Écoute, Projet PAL), Elizabeth joined us in February 2023 to take charge of a project profiling promotion and prevention practices in community mental health organizations in collaboration with the Direction de la santé publique de Montréal. At the same time, she is pursuing her studies in psychology.

Tania Leduc

Communications Advisor
With several years' experience in communications for community mental health organizations, Tania has been collaborating with us on an ad hoc basis to design member newsletters and revise our content since 2021. In 2022, she has agreed to become more involved on a regular basis: to her mandates are added the management of our social networks, the creation of communication tools and support for the development and implementation of projects.

Graphics
Contract - SIX CreativeLab. A graphic designer and college teacher, Jonathan has built a solid reputation among mental health organizations. For RACOR, he has been producing one-off projects and our annual reports since 2020.

Farah El-Bizri

Executive Assistant

Farah joined RACOR in 2022 as your point of contact. Empathetic and concerned about the well-being of others, she began her career in humanitarian aid by working for five years in a community organization in Lebanon. She therefore has significant practical experience in accompanying people in situations of moral distress. Our members also appreciate her versatility and excellent management of priorities, qualities which are very useful in her position as Executive Assistant.

Reports and publications
