Work integration

Community organizations and other groups offer programs, activities, support groups, and internships to help people living with—or who have experienced—mental health challenges to integrate or reintegrate into the workforce. In this section, you’ll find offers you can share with others.

Our member organizations

If you wish to undertake a socio-professional reintegration process, the CAP workshops regularly offer spots in the PAAS-ACTION program, in collaboration with Emploi Québec.

You can now contact the organization to join this free pre-employability program, designed to support individuals who are far removed from the job market in moving toward greater socio-professional autonomy.

At CAP, the program includes 20 hours of activities per week in a structured and welcoming environment. Activities focus on developing creativity and learning traditional arts and crafts.

Have you experienced psychological difficulties and are now ready to return to work?

The Transition Program at the Centre d’Apprentissage Parallèle (CAP) is an employment preparation program (EPP) tailored to your needs. It guides you through several steps, including self-discovery, training and job market orientation, dynamic job search methods, internship placement, and active job search support.

Training is provided in groups of 13 participants. Over 24 weeks, an employment counselor supports each participant in their personal and professional development. Additional optional services include art expression workshops, access to a food bank, art therapy, and participation in CAP events.

Center de soir Denise-Massé regularly seeks candidates for its PAAS-Action program. Various positions are available, including:

  • Canteen clerk
  • Associations clerk
  • Journalist for the center’s monthly newspaper
  • Housekeeping clerk

Schedule: 20 hours a week, daytime and evening.
Compensation: Income supplement via Emploi-Québec.

C.A.D.R.E. regularly offers places to individuals facing significant employment barriers through the PAAS-Action program.

Opportunities are available in four of the organization’s projects and workshops:

  • Brico+ (C.A.D.R.E.)
  • Accompaniment to medical appointments (C.A.D.R.E.)

EMPLOYMENT PREPARATION PROGRAM FOR PEOPLE WITH MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES

NOW RECRUITING

This rehabilitation and job retention program supports individuals who are currently living with—or have previously experienced—mental health challenges, and who have faced difficulties entering or staying in the job market. The 32-week program is continually adapted to current COVID-19 guidelines.

It includes :

  • Group workshops (virtual and/or in-person)
  • Personalized one-on-one support
  • Mental health management tools
  • Gradual workplace reintegration
  • Guidance, peer support, and office services
  • Opportunities for internships
  • Job search strategies and tools
  • Ongoing support after job placement

Offered continuously by Centre Bienvenue in collaboration with CEA Jeanne-Sauvé, this socio-professional integration program may lead to a training certificate.

The workshops are designed to help you develop social and professional skills, strengthen your self-awareness, and reconnect with the job market. Supervised on-the-job training enables you to apply both theoretical and practical skills.

Eligibility criteria

  • 18 years or older
  • Have experienced or currently face psychological difficulties
  • Be able to attend 20 hours of training per week
  • Be interested in entering the job market or returning to school
  • Have a good understanding of written and spoken French

Please note:

  • Financial assistance and a free bus pass may be available for individuals receiving social solidarity benefits
  • Registration is open year-round

L’ATELIER is currently recruiting for the new TRANSART – Retour vers l’emploi group.

This 26-week pre-employment program offers workshops in self-discovery, skills assessment, and job search techniques. At the same time, participants learn a craft, which helps develop creativity and build self-confidence.

Entraide Saint-Michel, a mental health day center located in the Saint-Michel district, still has places to fill for the PAAS-Action program, offered in collaboration with Emploi-Québec. PAAS-Action is a pre-employability program designed to help people far removed from the job market move towards greater socio-professional autonomy.

At Entraide Saint-Michel, participants in the PAAS-Action program choose from a range of activities based on pre-established personal goals.

THE BRIDGE

Pre-employability program offered by Vie Autonome – Montréal

The Bridge is a pre-employability program designed for individuals living with disabilities—including mental health conditions—regardless of the nature of their limitations. This program helps participants progress at their own pace toward employment, whether they are job seekers, students, or self-employed. It focuses on rebuilding self-confidence, developing workplace skills, and improving knowledge and use of available resources. The program complements other employment support services.

Activities and services include one-on-one consultations, workshops and discussion cafés led by experts in the field of disability, peer support, supervised volunteer opportunities, and more.

Vie Autonome – Montréal’s mission is to promote independence and inclusion by and for people with all types of disabilities. They provide opportunities for personal development, skill-building, and access to information—offered in both French and English.

Services de placement Horizon-Travail, a partner of Services Québec, offers free consulting and job placement services to support the integration, reintegration, and job retention of individuals with mental health conditions or visual impairments.

Their services are free, and are available to both job seekers and employers.

  • Be a recipient of social assistance
  • Have a birth certificate or permanent residence card

La Maison du Père is dedicated not only to the well-being and housing stability of men experiencing or at risk of homelessness, but also to facilitating their access to employment. This is made possible through partnerships with public, private, and community-sector organizations.

The employment assistance program at La Maison du Père is divided into five components:

JOB PREPARATION

To support participants in their job search, La Maison du Père offers assistance with:

  • Updating résumés and cover letters

  • Interview preparation

  • Job search strategies

  • Referrals and more

PRE-EMPLOYABILITY

In partnership with Emploi-Québec, La Maison du Père offers the PAAS-ACTION program to men engaged in social reintegration. Through this program, participants receive a government support allowance while progressing toward workplace reintegration and socio-personal development.

Available work placements include:

  • Kitchen

  • Laundry

  • Coat room

  • Building maintenance

  • Goods reception

EXTERNAL EMPLOYABILITY

La Maison du Père collaborates with organizations such as Travail sans Frontières and the Société de développement social to offer work experience opportunities, typically through short-term contracts (2 to 4 months). The organization also maintains partnerships with both private and public sectors, including the Quartier des spectacles.

LEGAL SERVICES

In collaboration with Clinique Droits Devant, La Maison du Père provides legal support to participants in its social reintegration program. This includes help in:

  • Assessing their legal situation

  • Taking steps toward regularization

  • Arranging compensatory work or payment agreements

EDUCATION PROGRAM

With the support of counselors from SARCA, participants can design a personalized training and education plan. Throughout the process, they receive assistance with:

  • Skills assessment and recognition

  • Exams

  • Career guidance

  • Individual counseling

These services are offered jointly by the Réseau de la formation générale des adultes and the Réseau de la formation professionnelle.

L’Arrimage is a non-profit organization that offers specialized employment assistance for individuals living with mental health challenges.

Funded by Emploi-Québec, L’Arrimage helps adults integrate or reintegrate into the regular job market, free of charge, for residents of Montreal or Laval who meet the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must have a diagnosed mental health condition

  • Must be receiving medical follow-up

  • Must be actively seeking employment

A referral form—completed by the healthcare professional providing follow-up—is required. The form is available upon request.

SUMMER IS HERE!

The next Employment Preparation Program (EPP) will be offered at CyberCap in JULY 2022.

This six-month program is open to youth aged 16 and over who:

  • Are interested in digital creation

  • Have not completed high school

  • Are currently unemployed

  • Live on the Island of Montreal

Did you know? CyberCap has implemented strict health and safety measures to ensure a safe working environment. Activities and services, including information sessions for youth and professionals, have been adapted and continue to be held on-site.
